The second talk with the Mormons was good.
I wanted to talk longer.
I’ll be keeping Elder Brock and Elder Cottle in my prayers.
I’m tired of anonymous quotes.

Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground.

"Pray that their eyes open to the awesome supremacy, exclusivity, and sufficiency of Jesus Christ" Your statement implies that Mormons dont believe this. I can assure you that we most certainly do. Have a nice chat with the missionaries!from Anonymous
For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
2 Nephi 25:23
I don’t see how even partially relying on your own works for righteousness affirms the sufficiency of what Jesus Christ did on the cross.
You cannot earn grace.
Thank you. I pray it will be a life-changing chat.

That explains why they didn’t want to meet at Starbucks.
Elder Brock and Elder Cottle were their names.
Not gonna lie, when I saw them I was like, MORMONS!
We engaged in conversation for about 30 minutes. They were very friendly. I did most of the questioning, which was weird.
When they gave me a response they were looking straight at me, but their eyes were somewhere else — fixed on an index card perhaps, or a blackboard where a lecturer wrote about the apostles and Joseph Smith.
We agreed to meet up tomorrow.
So if you guys could, please pray for them as I go into conversation with them once more. I’m meeting with them at noon. Pray that the Holy Spirit would wreck their hearts with a yearning for the truth before I even speak a word to them. Pray that their eyes open to the awesome supremacy, exclusivity, and sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Pray that I go in with the right attitude, wanting to win the man and not the argument.
I greatly appreciate it.
So now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna dig through Johnny’s archives, among other things.
Scaring an asian old lady with a 5-0 grind
He was the meekest and lowliest of all the sons of men, yet he spoke of coming on the clouds of heaven with the glory of God. He was so austere that evil spirits and demons cried out in terror at his coming, yet he was so genial and winsome and approachable that the children loved to play with him, and the little ones nestled in his arms. His presence at the innocent gaiety of a village wedding was like the presence of sunshine.
No one was half so compassionate to sinners, yet no one ever spoke such red hot scorching words about sin. A bruised reed he would not break, his whole life was love, yet on one occasion he demanded of the Pharisees how they ever expected to escape the damnation of hell. He was a dreamer of dreams and a seer of visions, yet for sheer stark realism He has all of our stark realists soundly beaten. He was a servant of all, washing the disciples feet, yet masterfully He strode into the temple, and the hucksters and moneychangers fell over one another to get away from the mad rush and the fire they saw blazing in His eyes.
He saved others, yet at the last Himself He did not save. There is nothing in history like the union of contrasts which confronts us in the gospels. The mystery of Jesus is the mystery of divine personality.

Why
How often we forget that Jesus Christ is enough.
What a sorrowful trepidation we have grown accustomed to! Why do we not yearn for His presence the same way a deer pants for water? Did we never learn what it means to be spiritually poor? Or did we just acquire selective amnesia?
The world makes attempt after attempt to satisfy itself, only to come up more empty-handed than before, leaving them no choice but to dig deeper in their proclivities and abominations.
Why don’t we tell them we have found the solution to their search? Why do they not run to the church, longing for what “those Christians have”?
Perhaps we too are looking for the answer. Perhaps we have forgotten that we are only satisfied in Him.
Perhaps we have tried to become satisfied with topical Bible studies once a week, emotional camp highs, and a good feeling from the prayer we said before bed.
Perhaps we have ignored the satisfaction from getting to know the personage of Jesus Christ.
How do we expect to lead a people where we ourselves have not yet been?
Our generation’s awakening must take foundation in a body of believers who seek no other satisfaction than the Glory of God.
This means we must not simply be hearers of The Word, but doers! Apologists that are not merely heard, but felt. Christians that do not simply adhere to a denomination, but a lifestyle.
I do not mean any of this to scold or discourage, because I am in no place to condescendingly speak to others. Rather, I hope that you will be encouraged to exemplify a needy life for Christ, both privately and publicly, so that others may come to know Him.
Let us never forget the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
